Christopher M. Whelan was born in Mount Kisco New York in 1970 and later moved with his parents and two older brothers to Ontario, Canada. The son of an Irish born immigrant Chris grew up in rural Ontario, Canada where at age 18 Chris and his high school sweetheart Cynthia started their own part-time printing company quickly establishing Chris & Cindy as the local graphic artist and print shop. By the time they graduated high-school they were operating the business fulltime and continued for the next 8 years. Cindy left the business to be home with their 2 children and Chris was offered a sales & marketing position at a local promotional advertising firm where he remained for 2 years working on regional and national accounts.
In 1998 Chris once again became self-employed this time as an independent contractor for the second largest coupon clearing and fulfillment house in Canada, where he managed contests and consumer promotions for many well-known consumer packaged goods companies often writing the advertising copy and the legalese for their coupons, contests, premium fulfillment, and refunds. In 2015 Chris decided to leave the corporate marketing world to pursue some of his other passions.
Having grown up listening to his father's tales of Unicorns, Leprechauns, Fairies, Dragons and the Little People that lived in the moat in Ireland Chris was inspired to write and illustrate a series of stories about a little Unicorn that would go on many adventures and teach young children that they are useful and valuable even if it doesn't always seem that way. Christopher has also started creating and publishing several replica props from movies and television and enjoys making his living from his little studio in the rural town of Paris, Ontario where he resides with his beautiful wife Cynthia and their two children.
